The anguish of snoring discomfort and danger to health

Always check with your doctor if you or your partner have been snoring for a long time. In the event that you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, it is necessary that you follow each of the advice that is prescribed.

Snoring is more than that nighttime discomfort that prevents us from falling asleep. If your partner snores, you may no longer know what to do, what remedy to put or how to get him to turn around so that he stops making those indescribable sounds that prevent you from falling asleep.

Now, there is always talk of male snoring, but do you know that sleep apnea is also very common among women? It is a very common reality, as well as dangerous. It should not be overlooked.

Many women fall asleep with some anguish, fearful of disturbing their partners with their snoring and, in turn, are aware that this always leads to bad rest, irritability and a morning headache. What can we do to get rid of this discomfort?

Snoring in daily life

Sometimes snoring can even be the cause of disputes between couples, especially if one of the two refuses to admit it or, knowingly, avoids giving importance to a problem that goes beyond the simple night-time discomfort.

Those who snore loudly and every night, get up tired, and not only that: headaches, physical discomfort, irritability, stress or increased blood pressure are common.

Realities that, little by little, can give way too much more serious diseases if we do not seek help and, above all, if we do not become aware that snoring is not something normal that everyone does at night.

Therefore, it may be advisable to see a doctor if snoring does not allow you to rest at night or if other symptoms such as sleep apnea are noted.

Do you know what causes annoying snoring?

Snoring is a sign that something is happening in our body.  By doing so, we lose an excess of energy that directly affects our daily lives. In fact, many doctors call snoring “the internal fever”, meaning it is considered an indicator of health.

Snoring is caused by a narrowing of the airway to the lungs, less oxygen enters and what is known as hypoxia occurs. When not being able to enter enough air, a vibration is originated, which produces the annoying sound.

If at some point enough air stopped entering, what would happen directly is that we would “stop breathing” for a brief fraction of time, thus causing Sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea

Sometimes episodes of breathless snoring are due precisely to the disorder of sleep apnea. However, it can also be due to the presence of polyps, the anatomy of the nasal septum, the palate or even allergic processes. If it is something constant, it is necessary that we go to the doctor to obtain a proper diagnosis.

Sleep apnea is not just anything. We have to take into account that our lungs stop receiving oxygen and that the brain must order the respiratory muscles to make an effort to obtain air, and hence those louder and more sudden sounds.

In the long term, and if it becomes chronic, sleep apnea can end up causing us to suffer from hypertension, heart failure, type 2 diabetes, and can even be behind many strokes. We must never forget that the brain and heart stop receiving oxygen for a few seconds.

Tips to reduce snoring at night

If your snoring is light and occasional, it never hurts to put these basic tips into practice. Take note:

Snoring can be a sign that something is wrong. Doing that for a week is not the same because we have colds or allergies than snoring whenever we go to bed, either at noon when taking a nap or when we go to sleep at night.

Always check with your doctor if you or your partner have been snoring for a long time. In the event that you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, it is necessary that you follow each of the advice that is prescribed.
